To heal the life in a forest
As an environmental tradition, Faery has methods of restoring the land to health through working with the images of the primal land within the polluted land, as ours has become. This is done through re-attuning our land to the Faeryland, we do this through finding our Land of Heart's Desire.
Tree of Trees is covered with a Brat Uaine, a green cloth or cloak. Often this cloak becomes the desired possession of many. In the tales we are told that beneath the tree sits an old woman, watching, knitting, under the cloak at the foot of the tree. When an attempt is made to steal the cloak she cries out:
Chughat, chughat, a bhuaine bhalbh!
Marcach o' Thir na mBan Marbh
A 'fuadach an bhruit uaine dhom bhathas.
Awake, awake, thou silent tide!
From the Mortal Women's Land a horseman rides,
From my head the green cloth snatching.
